No. 3 Ohio State leads No. 9 Indiana 42-21 after three quarters. It’s a game that’s been back-and-forth as both teams seem unwilling to take control for long. After Indiana punted following its first possession, Ohio State needed only two plays to go 75 yards and take an early 7-0 lead. Indiana’s offense stalled again, but this time its defense came through by forcing Justin Fields into his first interception of the season. Unfortunately for Indiana, it didn’t take advantage of it. Nor did it take advantage of Fields’ second interception a couple of possessions later.
Indiana managed to tie the game 7-7 early in the second quarter, but Ohio State’s offense finally settled into the game after that and reeled off three touchdowns to finish the half and take a 28-7 lead. The Hoosiers fought back in the third quarter, closing the gap to 35-21 late. Then, after a missed Ohio State field goal, it looked like the Hoosiers had their chance to make it a one-score game again. Instead, Michael Penix Jr. was picked off by Shaun Wade, who returned it for a touchdown to make it 42-21, and that’s where we stand entering the final 15 minutes.
