If I am being honest with you all, I am writing this at halftime. Penn State is down 24-7, and there’s no chance they are coming back. This is a program that went 40-9 in their last 49 games, and is now 0-5 in their last five games. How does that happen? That’s not a rhetorical question, I am genuinely curious: how-does-that-happen?
As I said when Penn State got embarrassed against Maryland: everyone is to blame. Everyone. The coaches. The players. The football operations support staff. The trainers. The nutritionists. The academic support staff. The stupid moron-idiots who waste their Saturday writing about this team. I want every single person associated with Penn State football to feel like they played a part in these losses because they are.
Penn State shouldn’t be 0-5. I know I’m repeating myself, but I really don’t have anything else to say. The game against Iowa went how every other game has gone this year: the offense was bad. The defense was bad. And here’s the thing: neither should be *to this level*. Hey, Penn State comes out this year and goes 6-3? Okay. That isn’t ideal but sometimes that’s the way the game goes. It’s been a weird offseason. But 0-5? This is Penn State. We might have a self-inflated opinion of ourselves, but this level of play will never be accepted here.
I’ll echo what I said after the Ohio State game in 2018. Be mad. Be angry. Unfortunately, unlike then, I can’t say have confidence in this program. I don’t have the trust. I don’t have the belief. I don’t have the answers.
