Chiefs vs. Buccaneers injuries: Full participation on Thanksgiving – Arrowhead Pride

Some notes

  • Wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) took another step in the right direction on Thursday, as he took part in back-to-back full practices. Watkins was full on Wednesday and limited on Thursday headed into the Raiders game last week — and ultimately ruled out. Watkins hasn’t played since Week 5 but should make his return against Tampa Bay this weekend.
  • Wide receiver Tyreek Hill seemed optimistic about Watkins’ return this time around in his press availability this week: “[Wednesday] at practice, Sammy had a ridiculous catch at practice, and I was like, ‘Yeah, Sammy’s still got it.’ I mean, he pretty much knows the whole entire offense. He’s a hard worker, he’s a veteran in this league, he already knows how to come back. He’s been working his butt off in therapy, during the bye week and I’m excited for him. The whole offense is just excited for Sammy to come back. We need to be at full strength. We need Sammy, we need Pringle, we need all of us together so Pat can really use his full arsenal.”
  • Chiefs cornerback BoPete Keyes (ankle) was added to the injury report on Thursday, but he still practiced fully. His addition likely means he’s receiving treatment for an issue stemming from Wednesday’s workout.
  • Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Mitch Schwartz (back) is off the injury report for the time being since the team added him to injured reserve over the weekend. Wide receiver Byron Pringle (ankle) was placed on IR on Tuesday.
  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have three offensive linemen of note on their injury report: left guard Ali Marpet (concussion), who has not played since Week 8, put in two full practices to start the week. Center A.Q. Shipley (neck) and left tackle Donovan Smith (ankle) did not practice for the second straight day, but Bucs coach Bruce Arians noted that Smith does not miss many games on Wednesday.
  • The only change for the Buccaneers from Wednesday to Thursday was backup cornerback and special teams contributor Ryan Smith being upgraded from limited to full.
