Twitch bans Dr Disrespect – Polygon

Twitch banned popular streamer Dr Disrespect, aka Person Beahm, on Friday. The disciplinary action is noteworthy not just due to the fact that of the banners appeal– Dr Disrespects Twitch channel boasts more than 4 million followers– however due to Beahms exclusive plan with the streaming platform.

The reason for Dr Disrespects restriction is uncertain. Grabbed remark, a Twitch agent did not specify what led to disciplinary action or clarify the length of the restriction, and instead offered the following statement:

Beahms channel was prohibited previously in 2019, when the streamer went into a restroom at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which was hosting E3, and streamed video footage of the incident to Twitch. The timing of Dr Disrespects second ban comes in the middle of a series of prominent restrictions of streamers implicated of sexual harassment and abuse, although there is no evidence to suggest that Beahms restriction belongs to Twitchs recent crackdown.

As is our procedure, we take proper action when we have evidence that a banner has actually acted in offense of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all banners regardless of status or prominence in the neighborhood.

Beahm has not openly addressed his restriction on his Dr Disrespect Twitter account or YouTube channel, where he has 1.5 million and 1.6 million followers, respectively.
