The Pittsburgh Steelers returned to the practice field on Friday as they prepare to take on the Washington Football Team this coming Monday. For the first time in more than a week, the Steelers are giving an injury report based on an actual practice and not just an estimation. In the second injury report for the Steelers for Week 13 courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, only two players were still not practicing.
Running back Jaylen Samuels, who is continuing to recover from a quadriceps injury, returned to practice for the first time since Week 10 in full capacity. Samuels participation over the next day or so will ultimately determine if he will make his return on Monday or if he has any setbacks.
The other player listed with an injury on the report was cornerback Steven Nelson with a knee injury. On Thursday, Coach Tomlin stated Nelson was getting an MRI on his knee and his availability for Week 13 is in question. Nelson was unable to practice on Friday putting his availability for Monday in serious jeopardy.
Also included on Thursday’s report were 7 veteran players who were listed as if they would not have practiced due to a coaches decision. Those players included Ben Roethlisberger, David DeCastro, Alejandra Villanueva, Eric Ebron, Tyson Alualu, Cameron Heyward, and Vince Williams. On Friday, all players with the exception of Ben Roethlisberger returned to practice. Roethlisberger is still listed as a coaches decision along with a knee injury. Before getting alarmed, the same procedure happened last week as Roethlisberger still did not appear on the second day when injury report was due.
