Urban Meyer Reportedly Ends Talks With Texas, Will Not Return to Coaching Due to Health Reasons | Eleven Warri – Eleven Warriors

It looks like Urban Meyer will not be Texas’ next head coach, after all.

After weeks of rumors and reports of the Longhorns’ potential interest in hiring Meyer as head coach to replace Tom Herman, it appears that will not be happening after multiple reports indicate that Meyer has ended talks with Texas, electing not to return to coaching due to health reasons.

Meyer’s retirement from Ohio State was due in part to health concerns surrounding an enlarged arachnoid cyst in his brain, which often caused severe headaches during games.

With Meyer out of consideration for Texas, there’s a real chance the Longhorns retain Herman. The four-year head coach has a $25 million buyout on his contract, and there are currently no other clear-cut contenders to replace him.

According to Horns247, Texas has also researched Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, Oregon coach Mario Cristobal, Penn State coach James Franklin and Iowa State coach Matt Campbell.
