Manchester United line up vs Leeds United includes De Gea and Daniel James – Manchester Evening News

Manchester United have included David de Gea, Daniel James and Fred in their side to face Leeds United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made five changes from the team that beat Sheffield United 3-2 on Thursday night, with Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay also coming in the team. Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood, Nemanja Matic and Dean Henderson all drop to the bench.

United also have Edinson Cavani in their matchday squad after he overcame a groin injury. Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all keep their spots in attack.

The game is the first Premier League meeting between the two sides since the days when Solskjaer was a United player himself, back in 2004. Marcelo Bielsa’s side come into the contest having impressed hugely on their return to the top flight following promotion from the Championship last season.

Before the game, Solskjaer spoke to United’s official website about the revered Argentine coach and the challenge of playing his Leeds team.

“Yeah, of course he’s done a great job with Leeds and he’s done a good job with many other teams as well,” said the United boss on Bielsa.

“I think he was in charge of that [Athletic] Bilbao team we played a few years ago. You see that there’s so much going on and to analyse those games takes a bit of concentration and time. You can see he’s a coach with all the details and he’s got his teams running.

“They’re the highest running and sprinting team in the league, probably the fittest team, so that’s one of the battles that we have to stand up to. It’s going to be a physical game.”

United XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; James, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.

Subs: Henderson, Telles, Bailly, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Van de Beek, Greenwood, Cavani.
