Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet seemed pretty happy with Ronald Koeman’s system against Real Valladolid on Tuesday.
The visitors lined up with three center-backs which saw Lenglet back in the team alongside Oscar Mingueza and Ronald Araujo.
It was a good night for Lenglet, who scored and helped keep a clean sheet, and he spoke about the changes after the match.
“Today was a very complete performance. We didn’t let them have too many chances. We needed to win this game and we have done it with quality.
“It depends on the game in turns of what the system brings us. Today it worked well. Jordi and Sergino able to get further forward without having to make long runs back to defend.
“We looked good with this system. We tried to practice it but there’s not much time between games to train. We have one day to recuperate after games and then it’s the next match.”
Lenglet also spoke about his tribute to injured team-mate Moussa Wague. The Frenchman dedicated his goal to the defender and spoke about his celebration after the match.
“I wanted to dedicate the goal to Wague. He’s a friend. We’ve shared a dressing room for two seasons and we just hope he’s back as soon as possible.”
Koeman’s formation change came as a surprise but worked out well with Barca picking up just their second away win of the season in La Liga. The big question now is whether he will stick to the new system next week against Eibar.
