Nations No. 1 prospect Korey Foreman is a Trojan – 247Sports

Corona (Calif.) Centennial defensive lineman Korey Foreman just announced his commitment to USC.

It was a whirlwind recruitment that came full circle for the nation’s top player in the 247Sports Composite.

USC was the early dream school and team to beat when we first talked to Foreman following his freshman year. Foreman ended up committing to Clemson back in February of his junior year and after backing off, looked like a Georgia and LSU lean.

Arizona State made a strong run as well but in the end, Foreman decided to stay home and be a Trojan.

“USC always felt like home to me,” Foreman said. “I grew up here and know everything about this place and about the school. At the end of the day, these are my roots and I have a really strong comfort level with everyone at USC.”

Foreman said watching USC on the field this year played a huge role in his decision.

The biggest selling point for me with USC was the improvement I saw from them this year from a year ago,” Foreman said. “You can tell the new staff is making an impact and you can tell they’re on the right path.

“They may not have always won every game pretty, but reality is, they won a lot of games and that’s important. I think you can see how the team came together and with our class coming in, I think we can take the program back to where it belongs.”

One thing we always said about Foreman was development would be a big part of his decision. It’s no secret that the ideal path for Foreman would be to play three years before heading to the NFL so finding a school that can prepare him and make him better was going to win out.

“I think the improvement on the defensive line has been huge,” Foreman said. “I’m seeing guys come out of the blue, guys that were under the radar and are now NFL prospects. I think the mindset of the whole team right now is on being great and that’s something important to me.

“Of course I’ve been watching Drake (Jackson) closely the last two years and he’s balling. He’s looking great and that’s my guy right there. I loved playing with him my sophomore year, we had a lot of success playing opposite each other and I can’t wait to get back to playing with him again.”

The USC coaching staff was relentless in how hard they pursued Foreman as well.

“I’m very close with the entire staff there,” Foreman said. “Donte Williams is my guy and the one I’m closest with but you have coach Vic (So’oto) who’s great and of course Clay Helton has been there with me from day one.

“I talk with those guys on a daily basis and they’re recruiting me really hard. They made me a huge priority, even when I was committed to Clemson. You could tell they didn’t want the top player in the country to leave home and they did a great job with me the whole year.”

Foreman actually signed with the Trojans during the Early Signing Period before going public earlier today. He originally planned to graduate early but will finish out his spring semester and enroll at USC in the fall.
