Deshaun Watson posts a cryptic tweet after Texans hire Nick Caserio – Patriots Wire

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson took to Twitter not long after his team was reported to have agreed to terms with Nick Caserio as the team’s next general manager.

Caserio, currently the Patriots director of player personnel, comes from New England, just like the previous regime in Houston. Ex-Texans coach and general manager Bill O’Brien, a former Patriots offensive coordinator, ran the Texans with help from Jack Easterby, a former Patriots character coach. Houston fired O’Brien in October, but retained Easterby.

So perhaps Watson isn’t happy to see the organization go in a similar direction with Caserio, another branch of Bill Belichick’s coaching and general managing tree.

Here’s what Watson wrote on Twitter: “some things never change….”

O’Brien infamously traded Watson’s top pass-catcher DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals during the 2020 offseason. The move was one of many — including traded two first-round picks for left tackle Laremy Tunsil — that led to O’Brien’s undoing in Houston.

Caserio will be tasked with hiring a head coach for Houston. There are no shortage of excellent options, including Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
