The Nets will have a very short bench Wednesday night.
Between trading for James Harden and various injuries and absences, the Nets will have just nine players suiting up for Wednesday’s matchup with the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
The NBA requires eight players for a team to play.
Coach Steve Nash will have to cobble together a lineup featuring some combination of Bruce Brown, Chris Chiozza, Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Joe Harris, DeAndre Jordan, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Reggie Perry and Landry Shamet.
Gone from the lineup after Wednesday’s three-team trade for Harden — who will be subject to COVID-19 protocols before suiting up — are Caris LeVert (traded to Indiana via Houston), Jarrett Allen (Cavaliers), Tauren Prince (Rockets), and Rodion Kurucs (Rockets).
Kyrie Irving (personal reasons), Tyler Johnson (health and safety protocols), Nic Claxton (knee) and Spencer Dinwiddie (ACL) are unavailable for Tuesday’s tilt.
