The NBA fined Trae Young $20,000 for “directing inappropriate language” toward an official after the end of Wednesday’s loss against the Dallas Mavericks, the league announced Thursday.
The Atlanta Hawks star encountered some hard contact while setting a screen on the final play of the game and clearly believed he had been fouled. The officials disagreed, leading to Young angrily berating the official.
In addition to fining Young, the NBA backed up the officials and said Young’s contact with Willie Cauley-Stein did not warrant a foul:

You can be the judge on the play, which took place on an in-bounds play from Kevin Huerter. Young’s screen actually freed Hawks big man John Collins to run in the paint with Cauley-Stein several steps behind, but Huerter instead made the safer pass to Danilo Gallinari, who missed an attempt at a winner.
Once Gallinari’s long 2-pointer clanked away, Young immediately turns his attention to the official.
