How J.J. Watt might fit with the Browns: Orange and Brown Talk – cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns need to improve their pass rush and a pretty good pass rusher just hit the free agent market. The Texans and defensive lineman J.J. Watt agreed to part ways and Watt was officially released on Friday.

Watt has an injury history and he’s not the longterm answer as the second pass rusher, but he could certainly offer a bridge to a draft pick and could help the Browns have some cap flexibility in future years.

Watt isn’t the player who cleaned up defensive player of the year awards — the player who tormented the Browns back in 2014 when they were trying to get back to the playoffs — but he’s still an effective pass rusher who would benefit from playing on the other side of Myles Garrett. Garrett, of course, would benefit from a pass rusher like Watt, too.

Mary Kay Cabot, Ellis Williams and I talked all things Watt and whether the Browns should sign him. Listen using the player below or click here to listen if you don’t see the player.
