James Wiseman was all set to represent his new shoe company, Anta, in the Warriors’ game against the Charlotte Hornets, before a conversation with one of the team’s assistant coaches prompted a quick change in sneaker.
Steve Kerr spoke to the media on Saturday after Warriors practice, and the head coach revealed why Wiseman made a last-minute wardrobe change.
“James before the game, had a pair of Antas out,” Kerr explained. “Getting ready to wear a pair of Gordon Hayward Antas, and (Warriors video coordinator Jacob Rubin) Jacob told him ‘you can’t wear Gordon Hayward Antas when you’re playing against Gordon Hayward’ and so he changed, I think he changed into the Klay Thompsons.”

Wiseman still rocked Antas, but he couldn’t rock the signature shoe of a player he was lining up against.
The rookie became the third Warrior to play with an Anta shoe contract, after Thompson and fellow big man Kevon Looney.
Wiseman had 16 points and four rebounds in his first game as an Anta athlete.
