Shaquill Griffin is one of the top Seattle Seahawks free agents and one of the bigger names available league-wide at the outside cornerback position. Seattle is in an interesting situation considering both Griffin and Quinton Dunbar are free agents, and Tre Flowers is entering the last season of his contract.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Griffin and the Seahawks are not really on the same wavelength as far as money.
From @gmfb on the free agent CB market. William Jackson, Patrick Peterson and Shaquill Griffin are among the top available but the second tier of players at the position should get good money as well.

“The Seahawks would love to have him back,” Garafolo said. “But they’ve had some discussions and are not in the same ballpark on money right now. So Griffin is going to go to the market and see what’s available there and Seattle is saying ‘hey keep us in the loop, because we’d be interested in having you back at a certain number.’”
Garafolo also doesn’t see any “eye-popping” deals made for cornerbacks this free agency period but sees the likes of Ronald Darby, Mike Hilton, and Michael Davis landing some quality contracts as second-tier signings.
Griffin had an up-and-down season in 2020 despite missing some time due to a bad hamstring. He had a career-high three interceptions to go along with 12 passes defensed, but he was picked on heavily to start the year and Pro Football Reference has him down for allowing six touchdowns. You could argue that 2019 was his best season but while he’s been a net positive his consistency has been an issue.
It should also be noted that the Seahawks haven’t tendered restricted free agent Shaquem Griffin, so it’s possible if not highly likely that the team that drafted the Griffin twins will let both of them walk this offseason.
