Jets agree to terms with Carl Lawson – Gang Green Nation

The Jets have agreed to terms with former Bengals edge rusher Carl Lawson according to Ian Rapoport.

Lawson was a fourth round pick by the Bengals out of Auburn in 2017. His 20 sacks in four NFL seasons don’t look overwhelming, but there is more than meets the eye with Lawson. He has posted prolific pressure numbers during his career. While he might not tackle the quarterback frequently, his pass rushing consistently impacts plays.

Edge rusher has been a chronic need for the Jets for a very long time. Lawson alone will not fix all of the issues, but I think he will help a lot. This seems like an excellent first step to addressing to the pass rush.

Personally I have been a long-time fan of Lawson. I wanted the Jets to pick him in 2017, and I have rooted for him from afar since. Now we all get to watch him each Sunday.
