The Miami Dolphins and head coach Brian Flores have promised to leave no stone unturned in their search for smart, talented football players. Something we can all agree has been a breath of fresh air since Flores’ arrival in February 2019.
This philosophy continued Monday morning when the team made official a handful of roster signings.
First, Miami agreed to terms with former UTEP quarterback Kai Locksley. Like Lynn Bowden and Malcolm Perry a season ago, Locksley hopes to transition to wide receiver at the next level.

Two other signings were made official earlier today when linebackers Brennan Scarlett and Duke Riley officially agreed to terms with the team.
Here’s what Kevin wrote about Brennan Scarlett over the weekend.
Scarlett joined the Texans in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. He started his college career at California before transferring as a graduate student to Stanford. With the the Texans, he has appeared in 56 games with 22 starts in five seasons. He has 139 career tackles, with one interception, five passes defenses, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and 5.5 sacks. He was limited to 11 games with four starts last year due to injury, recording 28 tackles on the season.
Miami needs depth at edge rusher, a role Scarlett should immediately fill. He joins Andrew Van Ginkel and Vince Biegel as the teams primary edge rushers. The Dolphins could continue to look for options in free agency or they could look to the 2021 NFL Draft to add to their ability to get after opposing quarterbacks.
The Dolphins also officially agreed to terms with former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Duke Riley. Riley appeared in 57 career games (24 starts) with the Falcons and Eagles, totaling 132 career tackles (78 solo).
Riley is the most intriguing name of the group, IMO. He brings added depth to the linebacker unit and also has experience as a starter. Best of all, he’s a special teams ace that should make an impact on Danny Crossman’s unit from day one. And who knows, maybe a former LBer like Brian Flores can get the most out of Riley.
