After several members of the Texas Rangers organization tested positive for COVID-19, some employees told ESPN that they “fear for their health and hope the organization will allow workers to work from home after feeling pressure to come into the workplace,” per ESPNs Jeff Passan. Thats a troubling discovery coming out of Texas, and a tip of the power that employers yield over their workers throughout this challenging time. The Rangers, of course, will have the opportunity to reassess their work-from-home policies due to these positive tests– and hopefully do so. Provided unemployment rates around the country, those with highly-coveted positions within sports franchises are in a hard position needs to they disagree with their companies in terms of readiness to return to work. None of the Rangers favorable tests belonged to players, coaches, or baseball personnel, per Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The Milwaukee Brewers are recently amongst those clubs with favorable COVID-19 tests within the company, writes Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. A number of those who evaluated favorable were asymptomatic, however obviously not all of them. If those favorable tests were from personnel members or players, its unclear at this time. Regardless, the Brewers are forging ahead, set to bring a group of 45 players to compete for the eventual 30-man regular-season lineup. The remainder of the 60-man roster will train at the groups Class A center in Appleton, Wisconsin. Gamers will face consumption testing for COVID-19 as they get to group centers.
