League of Legends’ new champion, Gwen, revealed in cinematic trailer – Polygon

Riot has revealed League of Legends’ newest champion and she’s a very creepy looking doll named Gwen. In a cinematic released Friday, the developer showed off the doll’s tragic origins and gave us a preview of what she’ll look like in-game.

In Gwen’s reveal cinematic, a seamstress creates a doll and, according to the video’s description, “This doll loved her maker very much, but sadly, tragedy ripped them apart, sending the doll to sink beneath sea and sorrow.” But as she waits at the bottom of the sea, a mysterious force finds her and animates her, turning her from a doll into something else.

Riot doesn’t exactly reveal what that something else might be, but it does give us a brief glimpse at what might be Gwen’s true form. She’s taller, with more human features, but she definitely still seems to be a sewn like a doll, giving her an extra creepy vibe.

Based on Riot’s previews from the Veigo’s Ruined King reveal earlier this year, we already know that Gwen was reanimated by the Ruined King’s magic and will likely be connected to Veigo. We also know that she’s set to be an AP top-lane Brawler, but her actual kit remains a mystery.

Just like with most new champions, Riot will reveal more about Gwen in the coming weeks, including her full ability kit. After the reveal, she’ll likely move to League of Legends’ Public Beta Environment for testing before her final release.

Update: Riot has released Gwen’s gameplay trailer as well. The trailer gives us a look at Gwen’s in-game model, her giant-scissor weapon, and how she’ll play once she arrives in the game.
