Sonic the Hedgehog has a new energy drink, one that only he could appreciate. Energy drink maker G Fuel’s newest flavor is Chili Dogs, inspired by Sonic’s favorite food — and Sanic Hegehog, the meme-ified version of Sega’s mascot. And, yes, this too is a real product, despite today’s date.
“Seriously, it’s true,” G Fuel said in a news release Thursday. “If you’ve ever wanted to drink a chili dog from a G FUEL shaker cup, now’s your chance.” Taking that chance will cost you $39.99, and you’ll have to get on G Fuel’s waitlist. The flavor will launch in June, and is available for pre-order from G Fuel’s website.
G Fuel Sanic Chili Dogs will be available in the U.S. and Canada as a limited-edition Sanic Bundle, which includes a 40-serving Sanic Chili Dogs tub, a 16-ounce Sanic shaker cup, and an additional 40-serving Sonic’s Peach Rings tub. G Fuel released the Sonic’s Peach Rings flavor in 2020, and may be worth having on hand to wash the taste of liquid chili dog out of your mouth.
“We’re thrilled to work with SEGA again on our second, and yes, very real, Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired crossover flavor,” G Fuel founder and CEO Cliff Morgan said in a statement. “If you’re waiting for us to yell ‘April Fools,’ don’t hold your breath. G FUEL Sanic Chili Dogs is the real deal.”
G Fuel’s waitlist for the Sanic Chili Dogs energy drink bundle will close on April 2, at 3 p.m. EDT.
