Eagles News: Jalen Hurts among “interesting long shot” NFL MVP bets – Bleeding Green Nation

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Reynolds: MVP Award Betting Analysis – Establish The Run
3. Jalen Hurts (+8000 MGM vs +7000 Fox Bet vs +6000 DraftKings): The NFC East is wide open, which is why all of their starting quarterbacks are mentioned in this column. That said, I’m not sure the Eagles have a realistic shot at exceeding their 6.5-game win total enough to be the first or second seed in their conference, which has been an unofficial requirement for MVP-winning quarterbacks for many years now. With that in mind, Hurts has the dual threat skill set that could make him productive enough to be in the MVP conversation.

Report: Eagles “exploring a move into the top 10” – BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles are “exploring a move into the top 10” picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, according to The Athletic’s Ben Standig. This buzz comes on the heels of ESPN’s Tim McManus writing that “it feels like there’s another shoe yet to drop” while discussing the Eagles potentially moving up from No. 12. It feels kind of silly to hear about the Eagles moving back up after previously moving down from No. 6. But it’s hardly implausible. We all know Howie Roseman loves to trade and he has ample ammunition to work with. The Eagles own the most picks in this year’s draft.

Mailbag: A Day 3 Eagles draft sleeper at every position – PhillyVoice
TE Kenny Yeboah, Ole Miss: Graduate transfer from Temple who broke out in his final collegiate season at Ole Miss, catching 27 passes for 524 yards (19.4 YPC!), and six TDs in seven games. He played a more traditional tight end role in college. In the pros he’ll be more of a “move TE,” AKA an F, and could pair nicely with Dallas Goedert.

Todd McShay’s top NFL draft needs for all 32 teams: Who needs a QB, WR or edge rusher? – ESPN+
Philadelphia Eagles — Top draft needs: WR, CB, LB, QB, S, TE, Slot CB — For two years, we’ve been talking about how badly the Eagles need a receiver. In the 2020 draft, they took one, but they opted for Jalen Reagor while Justin Jefferson (1,400 yards in 2020) and Brandon Aiyuk (748) were right there. Then they didn’t do anything at the position in free agency last month — and actually lost Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson. And adding to the issue, a trade back from No. 6 to No. 12 put them in danger of missing out on all four of the top pass-catchers in the draft class. Philadelphia has to figure out a way to give Jalen Hurts some targets so it can properly evaluate him as a long-term option.

Bears Sign Marquise Goodwin – Windy City Gridiron
With the NFL Draft just weeks away the spending in free agency has been light league-wide. Naturally, we’re deep into the first phase of “bargain bin” shopping in regards to the veteran market. That doesn’t mean we won’t see notable players move, far from that. In this case, the Chicago Bears have signed wide receiver Marquise Goodwin to a one-year deal. The terms of the deal have not been revealed just yet. Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to break the news.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie wants to keep playing – PFT
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie turned 35 last week. He hasn’t played since 2019, and he played only nine games total in 2018-19. So Rodgers-Cromartie’s career appears over. But the cornerback has not given up on playing. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Rodgers-Cromartie “hasn’t given up on the idea of playing . . . and has workouts scheduled post-draft.”

NFL Draft rumors: Eagles trying to jump Giants for Jaylen Waddle? – Big Blue View
A report from The Athletic says the Eagles, who have the 12th pick and an extra 2022 first-round pick after a move down from No. 6 in a deal with the Miami Dolphins, are trying to find a way back into the top 10. Speculation is that the Eagles’ target in a move up would be Waddle, the speedy, home-run hitting wide receiver/return man who would give Philly the type of big-play weapon DeSean Jackson was in his prime.

Five Cowboys thoughts a fortnight before the 2021 draft – Blogging The Boys
With all the predictions about three, four, or even five QBs going before 10, and the wide receivers that may eat up a couple more, the names that should be there for them are so encouraging. While not all will make it to them, the possibilities include TE Kyle Pitts, OTs Penei Sewell and Rashawn Slater, and CBs Patrick Surtain and Jaycee Horn. It all depends on how they stack up on the board for Dallas. There are some other options that could be problematic. One is Micah Parsons. He’s likely to be a great pro, it’s just the idea of taking a linebacker that high. This team has shown in the past that they tend to overvalue the position, so it’s a worry. And just as Charlton wound up as a bad choice for them, EDGE Kwity Paye might be coveted by some on this staff. It is certainly a position that merits a premium pick, but Paye is no sure thing to succeed in the NFL.

Philadelphia Moves to Phase 2 – Everyone is Eligible for Vaccine! – City of Philadelphia
So starting immediately, we are moving to Phase 2. That means every Philadelphian over the age of 16 is eligible to set an appointment or go to a clinic that has walk-ups and get vaccinated. And there are so many places where you can get vaccinated: more than 250, all across the city. Just show that you’re a Philadelphia resident and you’re set. If there are too many choices, may we suggest these: The Center City Vaccination Center can vaccinate 6,000 people per day, half by appointment and half by walk-up. The Esperanza Community Vaccination Center can vaccinate more than 1,000 people per day, half by appointment and half by walk-up. The City-run Community Vaccine Clinics are open on certain days throughout the city and if they have unfilled appointment slots, they will take walk-ups.
