Samurai Gunn 2 coming to Steam Early Access summer 2021, Switch later – Polygon

Samurai Gunn 2 was announced way back in 2018 as a Nintendo Switch game, but developer Beau Blyth and associates have been relatively quiet about the platform fighter since. On Wednesday, we finally got an update: Samurai Gunn 2 is coming to Steam Early Access this summer and it’s bringing some new friends with it.

Those friends include the guy from Minit and Ana from Spelunky 2 — both playable characters. You can see the duo in a new trailer for Samurai Gunn 2, the follow-up to the original 2013 guns-and-katanas brawler.

Samurai Gunn 2 will encompass three modes: Adventure, Versus, and Comic. The developer says that it plans to “continue updating Samurai Gunn 2 in Early Access until we finish Adventure Mode, finish the Comic, and expand Versus mode with lots of new characters and levels. We expect this to take about a year or so, but it may take longer depending on player feedback and any additional content ideas that we come up with.” The Early Access version is expected to launch with eight playable character, nine Versus levels, the first quarter of Adventure (21 levels), and the first of six Comic chapters.

On Twitter, the developer also reaffirmed that a Nintendo Switch version of Samurai Gunn 2 is coming, saying “we are still planning to hit Switch with our 1.0 release.”
