At one point, Atlanta Braves initially baseman Freddie Freemans fight with COVID-19 was so frightening, he said he prayed: “Please do not take me.”
Freeman was cleared to return to the Braves on Friday, 2 weeks after originally checking favorable for the virus.
Saturday afternoon, Freeman detailed to reporters his traumatic experience with the virus. He initially tested unfavorable in early July but started feeling ill on July 2. On the night of July 3, his fever jumped to 104.5 degrees, and he almost went to the hospital.
” That was the scariest night for me,” Freeman said. “I spiked to 104.5 fever. Luckily … 2 minutes after that, I gunned my forehead once again, I was 103.8, I was 103.2 then 103.6. I resembled, If I exceed 104 again, Ill probably simply start calling the phone, attempt to figure this out.
” But I stated a little prayer that night, cause Ive never ever been that hot before. My body was actually, actually hot so I said, Please dont take me. I wasnt prepared.”
The four-time All-Star likewise said he lost his sense of taste and odor for 4 days but has not had signs in nine days. In order to be cleared to return, Freeman had to have 2 unfavorable tests within a period of 24 hours, per MLBs procedures.
