Cubs Drop Another One to the White Sox, Complete with Eloy Jimenez Grand Slam – bleachernation.com

Bah, the Cubs lost their 2nd phony video game to the White Sox, 5-3 tonight at Guaranteed Rate. I think that indicates they lose the phony portion of the Crosstown Cup. Which is, itself, not incredibly real.

The majority of the story from this one, such as you need it built around the rating, is that Yu Darvish didnt have his command in the very first inning, missed simply enough occasionally for the White Sox to keep putting the ball in play, and Eloy Jimenez struck a grand slam:

Darvish got a couple outs from there, then provided up a bloop single and they aborted the inning. It was wild.
Darvish settled significantly from there, as he typically does, more or less giving up absolutely nothing for the rest of his outing, and flashing plenty fine things. Im not gon na worry about Darvish since of an inning in an exhibit game.

Bah, the Cubs lost their second fake game to the White Sox, 5-3 tonight at Guaranteed Rate. I think that implies they lose the phony part of the Crosstown Cup. Im not gon na fret about Darvish due to the fact that of an inning in an exhibition game. James Norwood also looked really good tonight (97-98 with great sink, plus his great splitter), and hes got that huge upside you dream on. The Cubs will play one more exhibit video game on Wednesday against the Twins.

Craig Kimbrel got in an inning of work, and it was unimpressive. He was 94-96 mph and once again not getting the fastball up where it was supposed to be. Because speed range, he either needs to be at the very top of the zone or the very bottom, due to the fact that if hes middle-middle, hes gon na get hammered like in 2015. Knuckle curve still has its terrific motion, however that matters a lot less without the fastball. Heres hoping the adrenaline helps in the regular season, because you understand all the interest in Kimbrel.

Ryan Tepera and Jeremy Jeffress looked pretty fantastic, with Tepera releasing a dominant-looking slider, and Jeffress (with his velo down to just 93 mph, but with fantastic movement) threw a nasty splitter or 2. One outing is one getaway, but they looked strong. James Norwood likewise looked truly great tonight (97-98 with fantastic sink, plus his excellent splitter), and hes got that substantial benefit you dream on. But the command always makes me worried.
Offensively, it was a lot of meh. Kyle Schwarber hit the ball truly hard, so that was neat. Nico Hoerner saw time at second base, shortstop, and center field, so that was cool.
The Cubs will play one more exhibition game on Wednesday versus the Twins. Maybe theyll win that one. Perhaps not. Does not matter.
