Charlottes brand-new MLS expansion group exposed its official name, crest and colors during a live-streamed occasion featuring the clubs supporters group and owner David Tepper.

The club is set to begin its inaugural MLS season in 2022 and will dip into Bank of America Stadium in the heart of Charlotte.

TYPE: The personalized typography is a nod to Charlottes minting history, including a contemporary aesthetic with its white-on-black typeface.

MINTED 2022: The border mark honors the inaugural season of the club, while admiring the citys coin-making past.

Crest

CREST: Charlotte FCs crest and its clean, circular shape is influenced by a classical coin, acknowledging the citys contemporary status as a major United States monetary capital as well as its history as the first American city with its own branch of the United States Mint.

CROWN: The centerpiece of the crest is a four-point crown– the spires represent each of the four wards of Uptown Charlotte– symbolizing the royal legacy behind the citys name. Charlotte is the original Queen City called in honor of queen Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, partner of Britains King George III, throughout the time of the citys starting in 1768.

The new team will be called Charlotte Football Club, or Charlotte FC. The club will also embrace CLTFC as a secondary reference.
