Evan Longoria activated from IL, Giants back to full strength – NBC Sports Chicago

The Giants have been one of the top offensive teams in the majors all season despite numerous injuries to key contributors, but heading into Saturday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies at Oracle Park, they’re finally back to full strength.

Third baseman Evan Longoria was reinstated from the 60-day Injured List on Saturday and immediately slotted into the fifth spot in the batting order.

After the recent returns of Brandon Belt and Tommy La Stella, San Francisco now has the active roster it envisioned at the start of the season. Factor in the trade deadline acquisition of Kris Bryant, and there’s every reason to believe the Giants could be an even stronger offensive team down the stretch.

While Longoria returns to the active roster, relief pitcher Jay Jackson was placed on the IL in a corresponding move. Additionally, the Giants recalled starter Sammy Long and optioned infielder Thairo Estrada to Triple-A Sacramento.
