Ian Happ Just Busted Out a Javy-Báez-Like Move on the Bases, While Rafael Ortega Stole Home – bleachernation.com

The Cubs are busting up on the Rockies here in the second inning, already having plated four runs, and a fifth just came in thanks to a ridiculous base-running play by Ian Happ. Is the ghost of Javy Báez still lingering and whispering in Cubs players’ ears?

With two outs and Rafael Ortega on third, Ian Happ took off from first base on something that looked like maybe it was supposed to be some other kind of play, because he was thrown out by a mile. So Happ pumped the brakes, and started to fade back toward first … just enough to get the shortstop to commit. And in that moment, Happ seized the opportunity to okey-doke around the shortstop WHILE Ortega took off from home.

It was beautiful:

I miss Javy. That’s not a replacement for El Mago, but El Happo was pretty fun right there.
