Hey Trainers,
Whats Staying
With all the GO Fest hype in the air, its easy to forget that Season 2 of GO Battle League is ending on Monday, July 27th 1pm PDT. Despite the long hold-up throughout Ultra Leagues rotation, this seasons introduced the Premier Cup, where Metagross and Dragonite are kings, and rubbed Drill Run, changed Wild Charge and Moonblast to be arguably much better, and made Palkia pertinent with the inexpensive charge relocation Aqua Tail. Theres obviously more meta shifts throughout its run, but I do not wish to drag. Lets enter Season 3, shall we?
Whats New in Season 3
Theres likewise a tease of a Flying-type only cup! Theres not much to talk about aside from that, like what tier it is, but it will be making an appearance throughout a future event, so keep an eye out!
You might have observed something new in the schedule; Season 3 is introducing the much requested Ultra Premier cup! This is fantastic for trainers that feel the tier was too bulk heavy, with Pokemon like Cresselia, Registeel, Articuno, Giratina-Altered, and Armoured Mewtwo being omnipresent in the tier. The power imbalance will likely be less extreme than Master Premier, where particular Pokemon were mandatory, due to the CP cap.
The guaranteed benefits for this season will be different! See the list below:
With the introduction of the new Ultra Premier cup, an upcoming Flying cup, many move enthusiasts and additions, and the dethroning of the aptly called Registeel (regis suggests of the king in latin), Season 3 is looking extremely intriguing. Itll be hard to state exactly how the meta will remain in the future, however it will absolutely be different. May you have many excellent battles, Trainers!
Nerfs
Theres a handful of mechanic modifications, such as the elimination of the “battle till you win” feature. While it was indicated to offer you an opportunity to win a minimum of 1 battle per set, many fitness instructors saw it as the opposite of a success lap, and mildly embarrassing (a minimum of thats what my local PvP group needed to say on the matter). For the Premium track, the Rare Candy benefit will be moved to 4 wins rather of 5. To stabilize this, youll get 6 unusual candy instead of 8. The end of season benefits will consist of an Elite Charged TM this time.
Abomasnow got Weather Ball Ice, which along with the Powder Snow enthusiast makes Abomasnow perhaps the greatest Ice type in Great League, with Energy Ball covering water and rock types. Its bound to be an oppressive force.
Brave Bird Flying deals more damage, but it also decreases the users defence 3 stages. The damage boost uses to PvE too.
Drill Peck Flying deals more damage. This will make Zapdos rather a force to consider. The change uses to PvE too.
Blizzard Ice deals more damage. Its still a costly move, and now it should be more worth it.
Empoleon got the simply buffed Drill Peck Flying, which is the coverage that Empoleon needed, truly. It had problem with Grass types, and it can now make Fighting less of a safe switch. This will undoubtedly help Empoleon end up being more widespread, which as a huge Empoleon fan personally is great news.
Pidgeot at Rank 1
Galarian Zigzagoon at Rank 4
Galarian Farfetch d at Rank 7
Rufflet at Rank 8
Scraggy at Rank 9
Pika Libre at Rank 10. Therell also be a brand-new present and avatar outfit at Rank 10!
Braviary got Close Combat Fighting, a rather dependable option to deal with Rock or Steel types that would wall it otherwise. The former particularly, as Heat Wave is still bad.
Buffs

Move Changes
Skarmory lost its coverage relocation in the crossfire! Maybe itll utilize the rubbed Brave Bird instead.
Powder Snow Ice deals more damage. As a 1 turn attack, this can be ruthless, as itll see at minimum a 20% boost in DPT. Piloswine, Mamoswine, Abomasnow, Froslass, Snow Castform, Sealeo and Beartic could be scary, and Alolan Sandslash is most likely not as mad it lost on Shadow Claw.
Pelliper got Weather Ball Water. Its other relocations are still pretty bad, and you can use Mantine instead, but hey.
With all the GO Fest buzz in the air, its simple to forget that Season 2 of GO Battle League is coming to a close on Monday, July 27th 1pm PDT. Despite the long delay throughout Ultra Leagues rotation, this seasons introduced the Premier Cup, where Metagross and Dragonite are kings, and buffed Drill Run, changed Wild Charge and Moonblast to be perhaps much better, and made Palkia pertinent with the cheap charge move Aqua Tail. Focus Blast Fighting offers less damage. Again, poor Registeel. Darkrai and Mewtwo also enjoyed this move in Master to handle the overbearing Dialga, but that may be harder now.
Moonblast Fairy now has less of a possibility to debuff attack. This isnt as bad as the other 2, but Cresselia is still probably unfortunate about this.
Infestation Bug develops more energy. It currently developed rather a lot, so this is outstanding. Accelgor and Venomoth are notable STAB users, however the energy gain will work for Pokemon like Muk, Garbodor, Swalot, and more.
Movepool Additions
Hex Ghost builds more energy. This will help Drifblim, Froslass, Chandelure, Alolan Marowak and Mismagius enormously. Depending how great the energy buff is, Gengar might prefer it to Claw in Premier Cup. The change applies to PvE too.
Nerf time. Love them or dislike them, they assist game balance, and these nerfs in particular appear particularly targeted.
Time for some ignored Pokemon to get a little love! Theres a handful of them this season.
This is the excellent part! Everyone enjoys relocation enthusiasts.
