Donte Williams addresses health status of Kedon Slovis after USC win – Trojans Wire

USC fans are wondering if Kedon Slovis will be healthy enough to play next week against Oregon State. If he IS healthy enough, that invites a separate question: Will Jaxson Dart be named the starter even if Slovis can play? We have a real quarterback controversy at USC after Saturday’s win over Washington State. Head coach Donte Williams has a decision to make.

After the win over Washington State, Williams addressed Slovis’ status in a way which provided good news about Slovis’s health. Whether this means Slovis will be the starting quarterback next Saturday night against Oregon State remains to be seen.

It sets up a familiar scenario for USC fans who very clearly remember that Slovis was himself a quarterback who replaced an injured starter, played well in a relief role, and kept the starting job. His teammate never got the starting nod again. Slovis displaced injured starter J.T. Daniels from the QB1 spot on the USC roster in 2019. Daniels eventually transferred to Georgia, where he is now the starting quarterback for the national title-contending Bulldogs.

USC has a coaching search and a quarterback controversy on its hands. Other than that, nothing big is going on around here…
