The NHL held its annual draft lottery Friday night. Well, among them. Were going to require another one to figure it all out.

Heres the brief version: We do not understand wholl have the first total choice in this years draft because it was won by among the placeholder groups. Well have to wait for the play-in round to be over, at which point the 8 teams that lose will enter into a 2nd drawing. Among those teams will get the leading pick and probably use it to prepare blue-chip possibility Alexis Lafreniere.
This is, it should go without saying, not how things normally work. You probably have strong thoughts about whether this is how it should work, and those views are most likely heavily affected by which team you cheer for.
