Former San Francisco 49ers offensive lineman Mike Person on Sunday announced his retirement from the NFL,
according to 406mtsports. com. He invested the past two seasons with San Francisco and began at right guard in Super Bowl LIV in February.
The 49ers launched Person, a nine-year veteran, in March, leading to a $2.5 million salary-cap savings. The offensive lineman signed a three-year offer with San Francisco on March 3, 2019.
” I just seem like now is the best time,” Person told 406mtsports. com. “Obviously I want it would have ended differently, specifically this past season. You take a whipping, and anyone whos played understands that. At some point you simply have to tell yourself now is the correct time.”
Person battled through a neck injury late last season.
” My kids are aging and more than likely I d invest the entire season away from them if I were to sign with someone,” included Person. “Ive missed out on too much currently.”
The 49ers made Person a seventh-round selection out of Montana State in 2011. The offensive lineman hung out with the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Kansas City Chiefs, and two stints with the Indianapolis Colts before re-joining San Francisco on May 9, 2018.
Person has 73 game looks and 48 starts through his nine NFL seasons. He appeared in 3 playoff video games.
