Two Cincinnati Reds players checked favorable for COVID-19 prior to traveling to Cincinnati for preseason camp, a team spokesman said Thursday..
Both players who tested positive are not in Cincinnati and do not reside in Cincinnati. Big league groups reported to preseason camp Wednesday. Prior to players can start getting involved in exercises, they must go through COVID-19 screening and self-isolate for 48 hours..
” Prior to the screening done here at Great American Ball Park, two players in our company checked positive,” a Reds spokesperson said. “Neither lives in Cincinnati. Both were evaluated outside Cincinnati. Neither remains in Cincinnati currently. Well update you with that information as we can.”.
Per MLB policy, groups are unable to name the people who evaluated positive. There will be a 10-day hurt list, a 45-day injured list and a COVID-19 list, which does not have a minimum or a maximum number of days. Groups will not say which players are on the COVID-19 list because unlike game-related injuries, its not a part of the cumulative bargaining agreement..
