Here are 5 observations from Day 1 of the Detroit Tigers summer season camp at Comerica Park on Friday afternoon:
1. Michael Fulmer
Fulmer, who is considering himself rehabilitated from ideal elbow ligament reconstruction surgery last March, tossed a short bullpen session on the Comerica Park mound. When he took off his practice uniform to run sprints afterward, the real story emerged: Even from a distance, you could tell the meaning in Fulmers arms; he looks to be in excellent shape.

2. Matt Manning.
He tossed off the mound also. Manning, probably the Tigers top pitching prospect, looked the part on top of the mound he should pitch off for many years to come.
He was the only top prospect to throw on Friday however he stood apart among the rest for his physical shape, which appears to have endless potential as a front-line starter.
[Tigers may have their hand forced, if Matt Mannings papa has anything to say about it ] 3. Casey Mize and Matthew Boyd.
Mize, the No. 1 overall choice in the 2018 MLB draft, appears to have actually discovered a like-minded exercise partner in Boyd. The two were seen talking during warm-ups and then ran laps around the outfield together. Any Tiger who follows Boyds lead is wise.

5. Miguel Cabrera, too.
Cabrera emerged on the field with a few other position gamers, including center fielder JaCoby Jones and outfielder Christin Stewart. Cabrera took some easy swings, striking the ball to the opposite field. Expect him to lay low up until the Tigers start live batting session next week.
