The sheriffs workplace stated in a press release that a male and his two sons were hiking in the location when they saw the airplane start to turn and after that spiral downward.

The plane left South Valley Regional Airport in West Jordan, Utah, around 7 a.m., sheriffs Sgt. Spencer Cannon told NBC News in a phone interview Saturday. When the crash occurred, he said he believes the group was out for a trip and was heading back to the airport.
