2 Major League Baseball All-Stars have exposed positive coronavirus tests Saturday. Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez and Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sanó both tested positive for the virus.
The Twins announced Friday that four players had checked favorable for coronavirus. The group released 3 names Friday, but did not reveal Sanó, 27, until Saturday.
The Atlanta Braves likewise revealed four favorable tests Saturday, including very first baseman Freddie Freeman. The 30-year-old Freeman is showing signs of the virus. Braves supervisor Brian Snitker expects Freeman to be out a while as a result of the infection.
On Friday, MLB announced 38 positive coronavirus tests. Its unclear whether Freeman, Perez and Sanó are included in MLBs number or whether their results are considered brand-new. Despite that, the league plans to go ahead with its season, which is expected to begin on July 23.
