Champions of the 104th annual Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest – Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo
Coney Island in the United States has hosted an unique socially-distanced version of a yearly hot dog consuming contest amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
New records were set in both the maless and femaless classifications at the climate-controlled indoor occasion in Brooklyn, New York City, on Saturday.
Californian Joey “Jaws” Chestnut won the mens department for the 13th time, swallowing 75 hot canines in 10 minutes.
Miki Sudo, from Connecticut, took the ladiess title by downing 48.5 hotdogs.
The contest is typically held outdoors and is seen by countless people lining the beach.

Mr Chestnut, 36, stated the preventive measures in place were “incredibly weird”, including: “One of the very best features of this contest is the energy and the energy the audience brings. Theres been years where I do not feel my best and the audience presses me.”

Speaking ahead of the competition on Saturday, Ms Sudo, 35, said she was unsure how she would perform in an air-conditioned setting.
” To be sincere Im an animal of practice, so having any unknown variables might toss me off,” she stated.
