Astronomers find the first known exposed core of a gas giant – Engadget

TOI-849b is so close to its star that it finishes an orbit in 18 hours, raising the possibility that tidal interruptions or a planetary accident removed it of gas. Evaporation due to starlight is a possibility, but wouldnt account for all the lost gas.
More observations will be needed to identify simply what materials are part of the core. Nevertheless, this is notable just for revealing that these kinds of planets can exist. Like other recent findings, its highlighting how complicated the cosmos can be.
