Summer Camp Miscellany: Lester and Relievers Dominated, Rizzo Takes Live BP – bleachernation.com

Rowan Wick struck out three in his ideal inning of work. I suggest, really, up and down it was all dominant from the pitchers tonight. Hopefully thats a terrific sign for the many relievers the Cubs need to rely on quickly this year (the bats have mostly be fine this Summer Camp), and not just an artifact of a big zone called by the catchers.

Catchers mustve been calling a might huge zone … A 1-0 win for the Home Whites. Pitchers piled up 26 K to 48 batters faced.

Casey Sadler, who is among the relief prospects who looked truly excellent early in the spring, strolled the first 2 batters he dealt with tonight (Kris Bryant and Ian Happ) and then started out the next 3 in a row (Javy Báez, Willson Contreras, Steven Souza). He struck out two more in an ideal second inning of work. It was currently a good bet he d make the group– he has no alternatives left– however with 30 players to start the season, hes almost certainly going to be among them.
Duane Underwood, another option-less reliever, set out five straight batters at one point. Definitely enjoy his fastball-changeup combo (tosses a good curveball, too).

The Cubs were back at the intrasquad thing tonight, and it was Jon Lesters game-ish debut. The big lefty controlled the 9 batters he faced (28 pitches), striking out 4, walking none, and allowing simply one * perhaps * hit (it was apparently a Nico Hoerner tapper that Lester decided to consume).

Get in the simulation:

Anthony Rizzo didnt play in tonights video game, however he did take live batting practice for the first time in about a week, dealing with Colin Rea. It went well, though obviously the question with anything like this is whether he awakens tomorrow and his back still feels great.
