Not so fast, Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne said Saturday morning after talk of a rivalry renewal acquired internet steam.
The chatter began with a radio interview in which Peach Bowl CEO Gary Stokan. He was on with Thom Abraham on 97.7-FM, which resulted in this tweet from the show account.

Well, Byrne tossed cold water on any hope of an Alabama-Notre Dame showdown this fall.

Alabama and Notre Dame have a home and home set for 2028 and 2029.

Notre Dame currently has a video game with Navy on the schedule for the Sept. 5 opener. When the Pac-12 announced it would play just conference games in 2020, Alabama had its first game cancelled for that date. That nixed the Labor Day weekend video game with USC.

Since the Pac-12 announcement on July 10, speculation has actually swirled about Alabamas service to the scheduling gap.
