Whatever we understand about the 4a recommends the same formula that made the 3a so commonly enjoyed: a no frills however not low-cost pure Google smartphone experience, consisting of the much-lauded Google Pixel video camera. The 4a 5G and 5 clearly portend a reduced aspiration for Googles smart devices in 2020, running less powerful chips and, apparently, foregoing facial acknowledgment for a tried and true capacitive fingerprint scanner. Its not even clear if either will get an IP resistance rating, and it looks all but certain Googles Soli radar tech will not be included in either.
While we understand a lot about the (apparently constantly) upcoming Pixel 4a, theres an entire lot about Googles 2020 smart device strategy we cant rather clear the fog on just. And what we even do know suggests 2020 is going to be an extremely unusual for several years for Pixel: A little Pixel 4a, a big Pixel 4a 5G, and a small Pixel 5. We understand what chips theyll have (the 4a will get a Snapdragon 730, while the latter 2 phones will get 765s), and we know a minimum of the Pixel 5 will most likely feature a multi-camera selection and things like cordless charging (… hopefully).
Understanding all this, we desired to do a gut check: do you feel like 2020 is going to be the year you pull the trigger on a Pixel? Or simply continued to fail to get you to try it?
