Currently, Division II UNK prepares for that decision, offered its statement to divide fall sports seasons — consisting of football — between the fall and spring. The NCAA has authorized a guideline to allow split seasons. UNK starts its season in late September.
Already, Omaha lost the first and second-round video games of the NCAA basketball competition and the 2020 College World Series. Mayor Jean Stothert estimated those events amounted a $75 million financial effect to the neighborhood.
” Its a serious blow,” Stothert said at the time.
Any post ponement or cancellation affects Omaha as the city is scheduled to host the 2020 NCAA Volleyball Final Four on Dec. 17 and 19. Provided the popularity of beach ball in the state and the high likelihood that either Nebraska or Creighton could make the Final Four, its a popular occasion every time it rolls into the city.
” Our plan right now is to select up video games we lose in the fall and complete our seasons by playing those games in the spring,” UNK athletic director Marc Bauer said. In the meantime, the exact same is true of teams in the MIAA, UNKs conference. “Most signs are that the NCAA will move champions to the spring.”
