Ghost of Tsushima holds No.1 as Paper Mario slips l UK Charts – GamesIndustry.biz

PS4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima retains its No. 1 area in the UK physical charts, in spite of a 68% drop in sales week-on-week.
Its a pretty basic drop in sales for the 2nd week of a AAA game. The games efficiency stays mostly in-line with Days Gone, which was Sonys big brand-new IP of 2019.
The other huge video game of recently was Paper Mario: The Origami King for Nintendo Switch, which suffered a comparable week-on-week drop of 64%. The game falls from No. 2 to No. 4 as an outcome. This second week drop means that it is now the 2nd fast-selling Paper Mario video game behind 2007s Super Paper Mario on Nintendo Wii (recently it was the tracking ahead of all previous Paper Mario games). Keep in mind: digital information is not included in this chart, and The Origami King is available through the Nintendo eShop download shop, whereas Super Paper Mario was only offered physically, so real sales comparisons are not currently possible.
Changing Paper Mario at No. 2 is another Nintendo video game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which climbs to No. 2 regardless of an 8% dip in sales week-on-week.
There are no new video games in the UK physical retail charts today. The boxed video games market is going to show very quiet over the coming six weeks ahead of some big games due out in September. The most noteworthy releases coming up are the LEGO Mario sets due out this week, although those will not include in our market information reports.
Here is the GfK Top Ten for the week ending July 25th.
