Blizzards Overwatch group just recently did a Reddit AMA and was asked once again which heroes they wish to see represented in Nintendos Super Smash Bros. series. Game director Jeff Kaplan picked Tracer for the 2nd time in a row, while the lead hero designer Geoff Goodman went with Doomfist – a hero with a moveset motivated by timeless 2D battling video games.
Jeff Kaplan: tracer plz
While an Overwatch representative seems unlikely based upon the DLC fighters weve seen contributed to the most recent entry up until now, theres always a possibility of a cameo of sorts for any video game series. For instance, in more current times weve seen games like Undertale, Cuphead, and the Fallout series get Mii Fighter outfits and even unique themed spirit events.
We cant say for sure if Overwatch will ever appear in Smash, what we can confirm is that Overwatch 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Would you like to see Tracer or some other Overwatch character appear as a fighter or DLC in Super Smash Bros.
Geoff Goodman: Doomfist might likewise work, hes type of a combating game hero currently! Hes definitely motivated by combating video games.
Tracers our woman, Tracers our mascot. She d be my first choice. Theres a lot of terrific runners up. I believe a lot of people can right away see Doomfist gameplay applying to Smash, but if it were up to me, I d like to see Tracer.
Kaplan said a bit more about his choice when he was very first asked the very same concern by IGN last October, and also pointed out how Doomfist would be an excellent fit however would more than happy with any choice the Smash Bros. team made.
We cant state for sure if Overwatch will ever appear in Smash, what we can validate is that Overwatch 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Would you like to see Tracer or some other Overwatch character appear as a fighter or DLC in Super Smash Bros.
To the Smash Brothers team, whatever character you want, we like them all.
I think a lot of individuals can instantly see Doomfist gameplay applying to Smash, but if it were up to me, I d like to see Tracer.
