Lakers look lifeless in 105-86 loss to Thunder – Silver Screen and Roll

After securing the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference on Monday, the Lakers kipped down one of their most uninspired efficiencies of the season and lost to the Thunder 105-86. There were a great deal of issues with the method the Lakers played, but given the stakes, or lack thereof, and the large amount of problems there were, were just going to focus on a few, starting with the groups 3-point shooting.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder were set up to play a basketball versus each other on Wednesday, and while both teams technically participated, only one group appeared to play and it wasnt the Lakers.

At the center of the Lakers 3-point shooting concerns is Danny Green, who technically led the Lakers in 3-point makes with 2 3-pointers, but it took 7 attempts for him to get there. The issue isnt Green taking that many attempts; its the reality that hes not making any of them.

The Lakers tried 37 3-point attempts on Wednesday and only made five of them. The Lakers will look to bounce back against the Houston Rockets on Thursday, The Rockets stunned the Lakers with their very small-ball play after the All-Star break, so it will be fascinating to see how Los Angeles responds this time around. Plus, if the Lakers win tomorrow, the Rockets have a better possibility of falling out of the top 4.

Plus, if the Lakers win tomorrow, the Rockets have a better chance of falling out of the top four. Thats especially real since the Thunder wo … hey, wait a 2nd!

LeBron James and Anthony Davis were likewise ice cold from behind the arc and went 0-8 from 3-point territory. If they shot a higher portion from inside the 3-point line, that wouldnt have been a huge problem, but they didnt; they shot a combined 10-30 from the field. Once again, it was simply a sloppy game all around– almost too sloppy.

The Lakers tried 37 3-point efforts on Wednesday and just made five of them. For those that cant do the math in their head (read: me) or do not have a calculator readily available, thats a 13.5% percent conversation rate. Thats actually, really bad.
