Florida State redshirt sophomore defensive end Jamarcus Chatman is remaining the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FSU announced in a declaration.
Chatman played in four video games for FSU last season. He has no taped statistics.
Both Chatman and coach Mike Norvell provided declarations on Chatmans choice.
” The reason I selected to pull out is since this is a major offer thats going on in the world today,” Chatman said. “A buddy of my household is in the medical facility suffering from COVID-19 and that hit too near house. My family and I chose that to be safe I need to pull out this season.”
Added Norvell: “Jamarcus Chatman has decided to pull out of the 2020 season. We respect his choice and, like any of our student-athletes who make this choice, he will remain on scholarship.”
The previous three-star hire from Rome, Ga. was forecasted to be a reserve defensive end for FSU in its new four-man front this season.
He is the first recognized FSU player to remain the season due to health issues in the middle of the pandemic.
FSU beat out rival Miami for Chatman late in the 2018 recruiting cycle.
A number of marquee FSU players have actually just recently specified their intent to play this season as some other stars throughout college football are sitting out the season due to health concerns. Preseason All-American defensive take on Marvin Wilson and All-ACC large receiver Tamorrion Terry expressed that they plan to play in 2020.
