Indians send Zach Plesac home for violating health and safety protocols – The Athletic

The Indians decision to send right-hander Zach Plesac back to Cleveland on Sunday is the most vivid example yet of how major-league teams are growing increasingly vigilant about self-policing their rosters.
Plesac upset colleagues and club officials by going out with pals in Chicago on Saturday night in infraction of group guidelines and the leagues health and wellness procedures, sources told The Athletic.
The Indians, fearing a break out of COVID-19 similar to those that occurred with the Marlins and Cardinals, took quick action to separate Plesac from his teammates and the rest of the clubs taking a trip party. The pitcher will be quarantined for 72 hours and evaluated daily, and the team might take extra preventative steps, sources said.
