MLB was forced to postpone games Saturday and Sunday in between the Reds and Pirates in Cincinnati after an unidentified Reds gamer checked favorable for the coronavirus a day previously, The Posts Joel Sherman reported.
MLB hasnt had a full schedule of games played given that July 26.
The Reds and Pirates now will likely go through increased coronavirus tests, as the two groups faced off Friday in an 8-1 Cincinnati win.
The development comes as baseball remained in the procedure of recuperating from two separate coronavirus outbreaks on the Marlins and Cardinals that disrupted the first few weeks of the 2020 season.
The Reds had COVID-19 concerns previously in the season, with 3rd basemen Mike Moustakas and outfielder Nick Senzel reporting signs and spending days on the injured list prior to negative tests allowed them to return to the field.
Infielder Joey Votto spent one day on the IL prior to returning and although Matt Davidson checked favorable, his follow-up tests were negative and led the group to believe that his first outcome was a false positive.
Baseball groups are not permitted to reveal the names of players who test positive for coronavirus without the permission of gamers.
The Cardinals were set to play their first game Saturday considering that July 29 after 18 favorable tests between gamers and employee thwarted their schedule. Outside of the Cardinals and Reds, no groups have tape-recorded a favorable coronavirus test considering that July 30.
