Pinto had no argument and stated he needed to move and accept the judgment on. He hadnt had a prior relationship with Brewer and said he was designated to him for the event. In spite of that, Pinto stated he called Brewer later on Thursday night to talk about what occurred.
” I informed him that if I can forgive him, everybody can forgive him, because I felt bad with the social concern on him with everybody posting on Twitter and Instagram,” Pinto stated.
” My thought was, I wish to leave this location like a male, and I think I did,” Pinto said. “Theres always something positive about the unfavorable.”
Segundo Oliva Pinto stated he called caddie Brant Brewer on Thursday night to forgive him after an error on the 18th hole that cost Pinto his round of 16 match in the U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes in Oregon.
” He was in tears, heartbroken about what happened,” Pinto informed ESPN on Friday. “I posted a picture on my Instagram stating its not his fault, it could take place to anybody. Hes not used to playing on the huge stage in competitors, so he didnt understand the guidelines.”
As Pinto prepared for his shot from a greenside bunker with his match all square against Tyler Strafaci, Brewer entered the bunker and brushed the sand with his hands.
The event was caught on cam, and Pinto was penalized for his caddies actions, which cost him the hole and the match.
” He was in tears, sad about what occurred,” Pinto told ESPN on Friday. Pinto had no argument and said he had to accept the ruling and move on. Despite that, Pinto said he called Brewer later Thursday night to talk about what took place.
” Im heartbroken,” Pinto said.” Hes a truly excellent gamer, we had a terrific match, thats all that matters,” Pinto said.
Pinto handled the loss with class, it does not take away the reality that he didnt get the chance to play out the match and potentially advance to the quarterfinals on his own benefit.
” Im heartbroken,” Pinto stated. “Some reporters in Argentina asked me what was my inspiration to come here, I stated, Im not going to go there simply to having fun. I want to win. Thats why Im going. If not, Im going to go home. I seemed like I was playing well, even though I had a long way to go. I felt like there was a great chance, however I guess well never know.”
Pinto, who was playing a friendly round with a college colleague Friday, said he hopes to rectify the result with Strafaci at a later date.
” Hes a truly great gamer, we had a fantastic match, thats all that matters,” Pinto stated. “We have to finish that one hole, though, and well do it at another area. Im going to talk with him and attempt to get a rematch.”
All of it boiled down to the 18th hole.
