Stubborn Tiger Woods competing with old Scotty Cameron, practicing with others – Golf Channel

NORTON, Mass.– Tiger Woods well known Scotty Cameron putter was back in the bag for the opening round of The Northern Trust, even if it didnt get any work last week in practice.
At the PGA Championship Woods chose a different design putter that was slightly longer and had adjustable weights on the sole. That extra length, he said, enabled him to practice longer because it minimized some of the stress on his fused back.
Woods had only one strong putting round at TPC Harding Park and eventually never contended, connecting for 37th. Last week, back home in South Florida, Woods still didnt practice with his normal Newport 2 GSS, instead using the brand-new putter along with an old Wilson 8802.

” I change backward and forward between all of those,” he stated. “I truly do practice with my 8802 most likely the most since I like feeling that toe release and I like putting with my right hand,” he stated. “Thats generally my training help, and then I went to a longer putter to get more reps in.”
Then he revealed up at TPC Boston with his normal Cameron, the one with which hes won 14 of his 15 majors?
” Just stubbornness, I think,” he said, smiling.

Tiger Woods body and game were a bit stiff to begin Thursday, however eventually things warmed up and Woods shot a 3-under 68.

” I change back and forth in between all of those,” he stated. “I really do practice with my 8802 most likely the most due to the fact that I like feeling that toe release and I like putting with my ideal hand,” he said. “Thats generally my training help, and then I went to a longer putter to get more associates in.”
Ive sent it to Scotty to rebuild the hosel since Ive thrown it a few times. Thats the same shaft for the last 21 years.”

Tiger Woods was spotted on the range at the Nothern Trust putting ice-cold water bottles on the back of his neck. Not to fret.

Woods putted well Thursday, taking 29 putts and ranking 22nd in strokes gained: putting when he completed his round of 3-under 68. He felt comfortable over the ball and believed he had good rate throughout the day on the quicker greens.
The problem remains: Woods is competing with one putter, but practicing with others.
So, he was asked: Why not just re-shaft your player?
” That is a thought,” he stated. Ive sent it to Scotty to restore the hosel because Ive tossed it a few times. Thats the very same shaft for the last 21 years.”
