WASHINGTON– Stephen Strasburgs season is over.
The Washington Nationals transferred the star right-hander to the 60-day disabled list Saturday. Nationals manager Dave Martinez stated Strasburg will go through carpal tunnel surgical treatment next week.
Strasburg, in 2015s World Series MVP, was very first put on the hurt list Aug. 15 with carpal tunnel neuritis of the ideal hand.
” Hopefully, surgery goes well,” Martinez stated. “The biggest thing is that surgery eliminates anything he has, and hes able to rehab and come back strong next spring training. Long-lasting objective, thats what were expecting.”
Strasburg, 32, signed a seven-year, $245 million contract with Washington during the offseason. He was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in 2 starts in 2020. Strasburg was scratched from his first two set up starts, and he left his Aug. 14 start after only two-thirds of an inning.
” He conjectured; obviously it didnt work,” Martinez said. “He probably could have taken another shot, however we just needed to get it fixed. We do not want to prolong anything.”
The move enabled Washington to include right-hander Wil Crowe to the 40-man roster. Crowe, a second-round choice in the 2017 draft, will make his significant league launching by starting the 2nd game of the Nationals doubleheader versus the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
Crowe will function as Washingtons 29th guy.
